Family support and home visitation Formed by community members in 1980, Family Connections began as a program, P.R.I.D.E. & Joy (Parents Reinforcing Infant Development, Education & Joy), providing support and services for families with developmentally delayed and at-risk infants and toddlers. In 1991, the home visitation, family support, and child abuse prevention W.E.E. C.A.R.E. (Working to Effectively Enrich Childhood And Render Encouragement) program was added to further meet the needs of families.

As a Family Resource Center, the programs have evolved to provide additional specialized support for mental health counseling, youth mentoring, teenage parents and families requesting assistance in meeting the general demands of parenting, family support services, batterer's intervention, and resource and referral.
Now, with a staff of licensed professionals, program area specialists, and administrative support, Family Connections El Dorado serves over 2,500 people each year and many more through special events and the indirect benefits of a healthier community.
