Early Intervention for Children with Special Needs

For enrollment information, call(530) 626-5164 ext. 29 or amindeler@familyconnected.org

Early intervention is designed to positively influence and enhance all areas of a child's future development. P.R.I.D.E. & Joy, an early intervention program for developmentally delayed and at-risk infants and toddlers to age three, offers guidance, information and early intervention services for the entire family in home and community settings. Specialists in speech and language therapy, early development, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing and education evaluate each child's individual strengths and needs.

The program provides Part C of IDEA - Early Start. With our community partners, Alta California Regional Center and the El Dorado County Office of Education, the family participates in an individual needs assessment creating an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) designed to address their concerns, priorities, and resources.

P.R.I.D.E. & Joy considers families to be the primary teachers of their children. Play is central to the curriculum in this program. There are many opportunities for children to participate in coordinated activities in which a variety of skills may be developed at one time. Working as partners, P.R.I.D.E. & Joy specialists support each family's efforts to help their child reach his or her own potential.
